God Provides for Elijah: I Kings 17; (1 Peter 5:7)
The BIG Idea: It's amazing! God takes care of me
Have you ever been on a road trip and your stomach started growling? You ask when it's going to be time to stop for lunch, but you are told not for a while. That's like what happened to Elijah.
There was no food or water in the land, but God took care of him. God provided water for Elijah at a brook, which is a stream of water.
How did God provide meat and bread to Elijah? God took care of Elijah by sending ravens to provide his food.
The widow only had enough oil and flour to make one more meal for herself and her son. Elijah assured her that her jar of flour and oil would not run out until God sent the rain again.
Not only did God take care of Elijah, but God also took care of the widow and the son. There was food every day for Elijah and the widow and her son. It was amazing!
One day, the woman's son got sick and died. It was very sad, but Elijah prayed to God and do you know what? God took care of the boy and the boy was alive again!
What an amazing way God took care of Elijah! And God takes care of us, too.
AMAZED: A SERIES ON ELIJAH
SERIES OVERVIEW:
This month, we are going through the major events in the life of prophet Elijah, all of which are nothing short of amazing! Elijah’s ministry took place during turbulent times for God’s people – so much so that Elijah felt utterly alone at times. Sometimes he was literally alone. But God’s presence and power with Elijah throughout those times are undeniable. Through these stories, kids will discover how amazing it is that God takes care of us, God knows what’s best for us, God speaks to us, and all in all, God does SO MANY amazing things!
