BLAST OFF: A SERIES ON DISCIPLESHIP

SERIES OVERVIEW:

When we think about the Israelites in the wilderness, we often think of it as a time of disappointment, suffering, and promises deferred. What we often forget is that God was there even in the wilderness, reminding the Israelites of God’s goodness and faithfulness. No matter their present circumstances, the people experienced that God was with them, and moved people like Joshua, Caleb, and Rahab to take incredible leaps of faith! Through the amazing accounts of Israel’s journey during that time, your kids will also come to realize that they can: spend time with God anywhere, trust God, take risks for God, and remember what God has done for us.

Do you know how astronauts share messages with each other when they're in outer space? They talk through special radios! We might not have special radios, but we can also share messages with each other in different ways. In our Bible story today, we will meet two people who had a very important message to share. It was a story. We'll talk about what that story was and how they shared it.

BIBLE STORY | Peter and John Share the Gospel

today's Bible passage from Acts 4:1-20

Peter and John were two people who traveled around telling others about Jesus. They saw Jesus do some amazing things.

Do any of you know some of the things Jesus did?

Pretty amazing right? They also knew that Jesus loved everyone so much, and they just had to share that story with others! But some people didn’t like it and tried to get Peter and John in trouble. They tried to tell Peter and John to stop talking about Jesus.

How do you think Peter and John felt? Do you think they wanted to stop?

Peter and John said they couldn’t stop talking about Jesus, even though it could get them in trouble. Like Peter and John, we should never stop talking about Jesus and all the things we know about Him!. Telling others about Jesus is how we can share God's story!

BIBLE | I John 3:18

We've talked a lot about our words today, but our words aren't the only way we can share God's story with others. Our words are important, but so are our actions.

INSTRUCTIONS: Read the passage - Dear children, don’t just talk about love. Put your love into action. Then it will truly be love.

People wanted to hear what Peter and John had to say because their actions backed up their words. They were brave! They performed miracles! They cared for people! They showed the love of Jesus not just with their words, but with their actions too.

Dear God, thank you that Jesus loves us and forgives us. Help us to share our story about You with others.
